Cocker Spaniels
The Cocker Spaniel is a merry, active, sporting dog, and has a worldwide fan club. It is a breed that
has so much to offer, the Cocker is a great shooting companion, a glamorous show dog, and a
wonderful pet. It is not surprising that the Cocker Spaniel is one of the most popular breeds in the
UK, ranking second only to the Labrador Retriever.

Although there is no conclusive proof, spaniels are believed to have originated in Spain - hence the
name 'Spaniel'. It is thought that a sporting gentleman who lived on the Spanish borders brought
them over to England. The name 'spaniel' may have been derived from the old French for 'Spanish'
which is 'Espaignol'. References to spaniels, which are believed to be one of the oldest breeds,
have been found in writings going back at least 6 centuries.

The most typical and most widely appreciated characteristics of the Cocker Spaniel is the happy
friendly nature of the dog and they are constantly trying to please, making them an ideal companion
and family dog.
We find that all our Cockers have there own little personalities and never fail to amuse us but also in
turn every single one has an excellent temperament. All our adult dogs and there pups are raised
and live with our children in our home from birth giving them a great start in life with social skills and
lots of love and cuddles.
The large melting eyes show every expression from sorrow to joy. This is a dog who has a bright,
optimistic outlook on life; they are intelligent and adaptable, ready to work, rest and play. This is a
breed that will adapt to urban or country living, and is ready to be a family dog living with children or
a much loved companion for adult owners. They are happy to be the only dog in the family, or will
share there life with other dogs or cats. The Cocker is also extremely loyal and will respond to all of
the love and affection that they are given.
"Heaven" (Picture left) is one of my beautiful girls, actually follows me around like a
shadow she does not let me out of her sight and even lays on my feet while i iron
or wash the pots, now tell me that’s not love!!!
First and foremost, the Cocker is a happy dog - happy with life and happy with his
family. Typically, a Cocker will follow you around the house, eager to know what is
going on and looking for fun or excitement. A Cocker loves to share there
happiness, and if that means jumping up with muddy paws, then you have to
accept the attention in the spirit it was given!
As well as being a merry, fun loving dog, the Cocker has a gentle nature and
seems to share her/his owners moods.
